Mr. Shalom in the Home
Welcome to Memetic Warfare.
Let’s recap last week - a known Telegram group run by the Mr. Soul persona, known to be tied to Cyberav3ngers (the one below with just under 1,700 members) said that previous responsibility taken for the attacks against water infra in the US were fake:
He was referring to the below group - created on March 26th - saying that it’s an imposter. The group uploaded one significant video in which they claimed an attack using the cyberav3nger logos back in April, though that is of course easily faked.
They then, on July 31st, took responsibility for the attacks in the US under the new “Mr. Shalom” moniker, alongside APT IRAN. This is what the previously known Mr. Soul group is saying is fake:
The supposedly fake channel also calls Mr. Soul fake:
So, it’s unclear what’s going on. Is there a fight amonst Iranian factions? Did someone go rogue?
Is Iran simply trying a new strategy of denial and taking responsibility for maximal confusion? Who knows, for now.
And now for something completely different. The Cyfluence Research Center reccently put out some research showing that they were targeted by the SDA in Armenia. Kind of jealous guys, good work there.
On that note, I’d also like to shout out a super old post from ClearSky for finding a relation between the old “Punishment for Justice” influence operation which now has concrete ties to Iran-linked indicators:
That’s it for this week, thanks for reading.
